Ford Production Changes
Ford has announced production changes due to the movement of Expedition and Navigator production from Michigan to the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. The changes impact the Ford F-Series Super Duty, Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator production. This is a little confusing but basically there will be a 7 week period that there will be no production while the Kentucky Truck Plant is retooled. Information concerning each model is listed below.

2009 Ford F-Series Super Duty Production
Due to the movement of Expedition/Navigator from Michigan to Kentucky Truck, F-Series Super Duty production at Kentucky Truck will be down for seven weeks of retooling from Friday, December 12 through Friday, January 30. 2009 model year production will resume on Monday, February 2, 2009.

Ford currently has slots available for Super Duty fleet production from October 20 through December 12, 2008. Please plan now and submit fleet orders for production in October through December to meet your delivery needs through February. Fleet final order date for Super Duty
production prior to December 12 is currently November 14, 2008. However, If Ford receives more orders than production slots available, they may need to pull ahead the fleet final order date. Scheduling will resume on January 8, 2009 for February production. Final 2009 Super Duty production is currently planned for May, 2009.

2009 Ford Expedition & Lincoln Navigator
Production of the 2009 MY Expedition and Navigator (including extended length versions) will be relocated from Michigan to Kentucky Truck. Final Expedition/Navigator production at Michigan Truck is Wednesday, November 26, 2008. 2009 model production will resume at Kentucky Truck
on Monday, March 30, 2009. Final 2009 Expedition/Navigator production is currently planned for June, 2009.

Ford Expedition
Ford currently has slots available for Expedition fleet production from October 20 through November 26, 2008. Fleet final order date for Expedition production prior to November 26 is currently October 10, 2008. However, if Ford receives more orders than production slots available, they may need to pull ahead the fleet final order date. Expedition orders received after October 10, 2008 will be built April and forward. Scheduling will resume on March 12, 2009 for April production.

Once Super Duty and Expedition fleet orders have been received to fill available production slots prior to shutdown, a material hold will be placed on fleet orders with a similar message to that above for Navigator until scheduling resumes in 2009. No actions will be required by dealers for future scheduling of fleet orders at KTP.

Lincoln Navigator
Fleet final orders have been received for Navigator at Michigan Truck. Navigator fleet orders received after Friday, September 19, 2008 will be built April and forward. The order bank will remain open, however fleet orders received after September 19, 2008, will be placed on material hold with the message below. Scheduling will resume for on March 12, 2009 for April Production. Material hold: Fleet Navigators balanced out at Michigan Truck. Scheduling resumes March 12, 2009 for April Production at Kentucky Truck.

General Motors has announced a Final Fleet Order Date for the 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy and Saab 9-7 of 10/10/08. Final Production for the 2009 Trailblazer, Envoy and Saab 9-7 is scheduled for 12/23/08. It appears that the Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy and Saab 9-7 will be ending production permanently on 12/23.

Here's the official statement:

"In response to industry changes in the mid-utility market segment and potential long term change in operating plans, GM requires final Fleet order receipts no later than October 10, 2008 for production in calendar year 2008".
