Fleeting Tidbits
Ford Motor Company has been a leader is utilizing environmentally friendly bio-based plastics in their vehicles. These plastics use no petroleum.
The 2010 Ford Escape is a study in the use of plastics in a production vehicle that are environmentally oriented:
  • the material used to mold the engine cam cover for the 3.0-liter V6 is from post-consumer nylon carpet;
  • the seat fabrics are 100% post-industrial recycled yards;
  • the seat cushions and seatbacks are produced with soy-based polyurethane foams;
  • the headliner is soy-foam.
If you want to read more about Ford's use of bio-based plastics, the following is a link to an excellent article on the Automotive Design and Production website - http://www.autofieldguide.com/articles/011001.html

It's Spring so it must be close to build-out! For your convenience, we have an up-to-date list of 2010 MY Final Fleet Order Dates at our website. I've noticed that there have been almost weekly changes from some manufacturer's final order dates. You may want to check our site regularly to see if there have been any changes.

Taillights
A lady comes in to the local auto parts store and asks for a “seven ten cap”. The counter guys all looked at each other and said, "What's a seven ten cap?"

She said "You know, it's right on the engine. Mine got lost some how and I need a new one."

What kind of a car is it on," they asked? Now they're thinking maybe an old Datsun Seven Ten, but no, she said its a Buick.

"OK lady, how big is it?" She makes a circle with her hands about 3 inches in diameter.

What does it do?," they asked.

She said, "I don't know, but its always been there."

One of them gave her a note pad and asked her if she could draw a picture of it. So she makes a circle about 3 inches in diameter and in the center she writes 710.

The guys behind the counter are looking at it upside down as she writes it...and they just fall down behind the counter laughing so hard in hysterics.

(directions ... draw a circle, write 710 in the middle of it, and turn it around)
